Hi everyone,

It has been a while since my last update.

We were pretty much slap bang in the middle of our 13 month closure due to the covid pandemic.


On the 26th of April 2021 we reopened our doors and have been flat out, fully booked since!


We have went from strength to strength and are now looking for our first permanent team member to join us!

It should be a very exciting time for us!
However, there is a huge shortage of therapists, across the whole of the UK.
Which is making the recruitment process a very difficult one.


Covid has ended many therapists career in the beauty industry.
Either by them being made redundant from their job.  Or by them having to close their own businesses.
Mobile therapists in Scotland were not allowed to work for 13 months!
With the only options of setting up somewhere and completely changing their business model or finding a job somewhere completely different. Most chose the latter.

We also lost a whole year of newly qualified therapists.
Who would have completed their training in June 2020, right at the beginning of the first lockdown.
When the industry was making cuts, redundancies and certainly not taking on new employees.
Where did they go? What happened to them?

The industry was so unsettled and was facing so many unknowns at that time that it resulted, in people leaving the industry completely and working in other sectors.


Not all is lost, there is about to be a whole influx of newly trained therapists, qualifying from college. All bright eyed and bushy tailed bursting into the industry!


Should be exciting right?
You would think all of us with vacancies would be reaching out and grabbing these therapists with both hands!
Think again.....


We as an industry are not supporting these eager therapists.
We all want new employees to have a minimum of 2 years experience.
Turning these therapists away, disheartening and de-motivating them.


Which in turn will cause them to look for jobs elsewhere, moving away from the industry altogether.


How are these budding new therapists, meant to gain this experience if we do not help?


We need to come together as an industry and support them! Or else we risk loosing even more qualified therapists from the industry all together!


We at InterCity are making a stand! We invite ALL NEWLY TRAINED therapists to reach out and apply to work with us.
InterCity will put our faith and trust in you. Give you the chance to become the best therapists you can be, with our full support, training and guidance.


I call to my fellow industry recruiters to do the same, otherwise our businesses will suffer in the long term. With the effects devastating our industry for years to come.
I fear many will not see this threat to our industry or businesses untill it's too late.

Act NOW!
Encourage therapists back to the job, open your doors to the newly qualififed.

Well.....where do I begin?!
2020 has not been what anyone was expecting. Ive seen lots of memes recently on this and found them far funnier than I probably should have. The term 'if I don't laugh I will cry' comes to mind.

Why have a treatment at home with Intercity?

A warning! Expect to love having your treatment at home and never go back to leaving your house for a treatment again!

Hehe only joking, well..kind of 😉

Personally I love a Spa day! It's no secret that my favourite Spa is Fletchers cottage at Archerfield.

But, do I go as often as I would like? Or even as often as I need?

NO! Of course I don't! And I'm guessing neither do you.

Our everyday lives are a lot busier now than ever. Whether you have a family and are running around after them all day, cooking, cleaning, trips out, doctors and dentist visits. Play dates, keeping up with friends and family, not to mention if you're working also. Rushing to drop the children off before work, pick them up after. Then home, dinner and bedtime routines start. Also if your household is anything like ours, little sleep follows during the night, then your up before you know it, to do it all again.

Even if you don't have kids. Most work places now are full of overworked, exhausted employees. Everyone trying to do their best and usually putting themselves last.

So no matter if you're a stay at home parent, a working parent, a full time office worker, apprentice or student! Your life is crammed full of responsibilities, dead lines and the pressure to "get it all done"

With lives like these, we find it extremely difficult to get some time to ourselves. To spend the day at the spa or get booked in to our local salon.

Being able to book online directly from our website or find us on the mindbody app and having one of our professional therapists come to you at home, Is the easiest most convenient way for you to have your much needed treatment.
We are dedicated in bringing the spa to you.

You may only get an hour at night that you can fit it in. Once you're home from work and ate some dinner. We work nights!

You may only have a 2 hour window through the day when your child is at nursery.  We work through the day too!

Whatever your situation or how busy you are, Intercity will be there. Fitting around your schedule and your responsibilities. Delivering to you, highly professional therapists, in as little as an hours notice.

We are open 7 days a week, from 9am-9.30pm.

InterCity will be the best decision you make.

Who is intercity?
Hi all, welcome to our first blog post!
 
We might be new to you, or you may have known us from the beginning! Either way thank you for being here!
My name is Alanna. I am the person on the other end of the phone if you have ever called us. I am the person who reaches out to you after your treatment.
And to the lucky few, I might even be your therapist!
I have over 14 years experience in the industry. I have worked in some of the top spas, under some of the most prestigious brands and worked with the most luxurious products.
I have worked on a mobile basis now for 4 years also.
I combine all I have learned from these positions, spas, brands and from the many treatments I have carried out in my career.
To bring you Intercity.
I know what makes great service. I know what qualities make a great therapist and I know what YOU look for and want from your treatments.
But this is only one half of Intercity.
The other half (some might say better half) is Richard. My husband, our website creator, social media guru (yes you can thank him for all the dad jokes on our Facebook page) and our overall tech guy!
Richard built up his wealth of knowledge over the years. Showing his first interest in tech by breaking down computers to re-build them again from about age 10!
Imagine being his parent!
Building many arcades, fixing computers and tech and working 10 years as a manager in Maplin Electronics.
Together we bring an easy to use, easy on the eye website. Amazing treatments from extremely professional therapists and not to forget, funny Facebook posts to brighten up your day!
The last but not least part of Intercity is our therapists.
Our therapists are kind, work hard and are an integral part of Intercity and are part of the family.
They have worked hard for years and qualified in all services they provide. Meaning you always get a high quality massage from a kind and caring therapist.

We work day and night to bring you this amazing service. Around our two beautiful children, 7 year old Aris and 1 year old Ada not forgetting our very handsome yet slightly needy cat Luigi!
As you can see for yourself, we are a small family run business based in Edinburgh. Therefore every time you book with us, recommend us to a friend or leave us a great review we all do a happy dance!
Our main mission with intercity is to bring the spa to you. At home, work and hotel. To have the very best therapists, who are talented, caring, experienced and dependable. We strive to always have on the day availability and to have a therapist with you in as little as an hours notice.
Why?
Because sometimes we don't know we are going to feel stressed, have a bad night and wake up with a sore neck or back and because we know how busy life is and that we don't have time to plan out time for ourselves.
Selfcare is such a buzz word at the minute. But it is extremely important. Especially in today's world.
We want to help.
Help you look after yourself better by taking some time out. Help you by taking care of you for an hour, instead of you always looking after everyone else.
We are constantly refining our service by listening to our clients and therapists. Its important to us that everyone who has a treatment with us, everyone who works with us is happy, satisfied and know how appreciated they are.
This is my first blog, I hope it gave you a bit more insight into who Intercity are.
