Well.....where do I begin?!
2020 has not been what anyone was expecting. Ive seen lots of memes recently on this and found them far funnier than I probably should have. The term 'if I don't laugh I will cry' comes to mind.
The main reasons being clients do not have to travel or come into contact with any other clients, amongst other things.
As with all businesses we have new protocols in place to enhance both client and therapists safety. From wearing the correct PPE to therapists being restricted to less clients a day. We really put our heads together with our team and put ourselves in the clients shoes to ensure we covered all bases. With our many years in the industry and mobile experience we really have thought of everything.
Our software company Mindbody recently released a very interesting article and data from their COVID-19 app user survey. Where they found that “In-home services are on the rise, driven by customer demand. With 52% of consumers interested in having a massage therapist come to them.”
This is music to my ears. Especially at the moment when we are the only area of the industry not open yet.
Another factor that I think will play a part is the fact the majority of people are going to continue to work from home. That now alone brings with it health implications. I hear it every week from our clients who are desperate to see us. They are hunched over their kitchen table on a laptop and its causing them a lot of pain and discomfort in their back and neck. It also means people are at home more. I assume that by the time they have finished their working day, they will very much favour a therapist coming to them rather than having to get ready and travel to somewhere.
Our service is already the easiest most convenient way to book and have a treatment. Now taking into account people will actually have no commute to and from work, we can fit into even more pockets of time that weren't there before. The hour car journey home can now be used to have a treatment! You log off from work at 5pm. Our therapist arrives at 5.10pm!
Instead of driving/sitting on the train or bus, you can be lying on our comfy massage beds. Relaxing and having some well needed me time.
We have also all become far more aware of self care, maybe more than we ever were before!
Life has slowed down considerably and most of us want to keep a portion of that. From who I've spoken to, no one wants to go back to how busy they were before COVID-19 and they want to continue looking after themselves better.
So yes, I think mobile treatments will survive and thrive after COVID-19.
Our clients will need us more than ever. The general population will!
All my fellow mobile therapists....Keep going! We will be back soon and busier than ever!
